Principal's Message
Good Morning Weller Families! 🐎

I would like to thank our community for all of the love and support that I have received this past week. Your well wishes and caring notes mean the world to me as I head into this adventure of motherhood. Thank you for taking the time this weekend to read my final newsletter for a while. Mrs. Sharma will keep up our communication and I know that she will keep you all up to date on our school events and activities until I return in April. 

APEX UPDATE:
As I mentioned last week, we did an amazing job this year with our APEX fundraiser. Thank you PTA for helping to build this partnership for Weller. I am excited to announce that through our community's generosity, we were able to raise $34,830 for our school and library! This is outstanding!! Thank you everyone! 😁

Unity Day is a nationwide event that promotes kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

Dear Families and Students: Please register for the Math Kangaroo 2026 Competition.  If you are new to Math Kangaroo please read Math Kangaroo History. The exam will be held at Weller Elementary School in person on March 19, 2026 6:00 PM - 7:15 PM PT
The steps to register:
1. Go to: MATH KANGAROO REGISTRATION PAGE  
2. Log in with your login and password or establish your user account if you are new.
3. Click on the By Invitation button on the left panel.

LOAVES & FISHES FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Providing food on MONDAYS from 3:30- 4:30pm every week!
Loaves & Fishes is an organization that Weller has been partnering with for two years to provide meals to our community. We understand that this time is not the most convenient, but this is the best that Loaves & Fishes can do with the current demands around the Bay Area.  A refrigerated truck will be stationed in front of the school by the office every week.

We will be having our pumpkin patch for students on October 28th. Thanks to our amazing PTA, every student will be able to select and take home a pumpkin on this day, FREE OF CHARGE! If you are interested in volunteering during our pumpkin patch, please reach out to Mrs. Sharma: jsharma@musd.org

Trunk or Treat hosted by MHS is back!

Hello Weller Elementary!!  We are excited for our Annual MHS Trunk or Treat that will happen on Halloween Day from 1:25pm to 3pm!  We will have a variety of different groups ready to bring that Halloween Energy to your Weller Mustangs! Come join us at the Milpitas High School Student Parking Lot and share the Halloween spirit!! Please see the map below.

Weller's Halloween Parade - October 31st
Time: 8:15 - 9:00 am
COSTUMES:
  • Student, please wear your costumes to school. If you are not wearing a costume to school you can come to school in free dress or your school uniform. 
  • Full face masks and blow up costumes ONLY during the parade. After the parade, masks and accessories will need to be stored away in the classroom. 
  • NO weapons of any kind and please no fake blood. We want students of all ages to be able to enjoy the day and parade. 
  • Students should wear comfortable clothing underneath their costumes so that, if necessary, they may remove their costumes to finish the school day.
PARADE:
Weller families are invited to comeand view our Halloween Parade at 8:15am. Please view the map below to see where parents and family members can view from. Families can begin to come onto campus at 8:10am, after students have made their way into their classrooms.
We ask for your cooperation and organization during the parade to ensure that we have a successful and organized parade that everyone can enjoy. Students will be seated in a large circle on the blacktop with family members standing behind them. Students will parade around the inner circle by grade level. Our families did a GREAT job last year, so we know this year will be just as wonderful. Thank you!

Please click HERE for our Absence Tracker. This document will help you to ensure that your students is not missing 2 or more days of school each month. Hard copies will be made and sent home soon with students. This is a great item to keep posted on your refrigerator at home! 😃

To make it even easier to report an absence, Weller now has an attendance email. If your student is going to be missing school, you can now send us an email to let us know. This is also an easy way to attach any doctor's notes that you may have. Thank you!

Weller's Attendance Incentive Program! 

Every day that a classroom has all students present, they can color in a letter on our "Let's Go Mustangs!" banners.  When the entire banner is colored in, the classroom will win the prize of that month. 
Let's have fun celebrating positive attendance all year long!

Joining the PTA is a way to show your support for the teachers, staff, and students. Support can come in many forms, and joining the PTA doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment. 😊

Membership fee is $20 per family, which includes all of your students and their parents/guardians.  The PTA is a 501(c)(3) organization so the membership fee and additional donations are tax deductible as allowed by the IRS. Please fill out this membership form and send it into the school to your student’s teacher or drop it by the office with the $20 membership fee.  You can also join through our Totem page if you prefer.  We also always accept membership registrations at our events, just find our table or one of the PTA officers.

We are always looking for volunteers to help us run our events.  After you’ve joined the PTA, fill out this form and let us know what you’re interested in volunteering for and we’ll be in touch.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Comes to Santa Clara County
  We are excited to announce that we are partnering with music legend, philanthropist and cultural icon Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to bring her life-changing program to Santa Clara County.
This worldwide effort mails free age-appropriate books (in English or Spanish) to children under the age of 5 every month, with a goal of sparking a lifetime love of reading.
 Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is now available to ALL children ages 0-5 living in Santa Clara County. Families can sign up their children at sccld.org/imaginationlibrary/. Books should begin arriving this December for those who register before Nov 1.
Residents do not need to have a public library card, though they are strongly recommended regardless of age, to get a library card with their local library. It's never too early to introduce your little ones to books. Visit the library to enjoy storytimes and check out books for yourself and your children. Alongside SCCLD, the organizations bringing this program to fruition through critical funding are the Gilroy Foundation, Susie Seledon Literacy Fund, and the Santa Clara County Library District Foundation is our 501c3 partner to accept donations. In California, the Imagination Library is supported by a state match of 50%, administered through the California State Library. The key partner organizations include the Rotary Club District 5170, Los Gatos Library, City of Mountain View Public Library, Palo Alto City Library, San Jose Public Library, Santa Clara City Library, and the Sunnyvale Public Library.

     
Weller Spirit Wear
Get yours today! All spirit wear sales help contribute money back to Weller. Students can also wear spirit wear on any day of the week as part of their school uniform. Order forms were available on Back-to-School Night, will be passed out to students this week, and are available in our office. Order forms and money can be turned into classroom teachers, who will then submit them to our office.

WELLER FAMILY HANDBOOK
Our handbook is ready and up to date for the 2025- 2026 school year. Please read through our handbook: 2025- 2026 Weller Family Handbook. Our handbook contains all the important information needed to ensure that we all have a positive and successful school year. There is a Google Form at the end of our handbook that I would like all families to complete, confirming that you have read through our handbook (it is quick and you only need to fill out one form per family). Thank you!

MUSD Family Engagement Survey  
Every year, our school district conducts two community surveys. Our first survey is now available and we would love to have Weller voices represented. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. The survey results will be shared anonymously with school sites, the School Board, and the community to help shape our district's Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). Thank you for your time and feedback!

WELLER'S CORE VALUES
We are focusing on CREATIVITY this month as part of our Core Values Program! Students will be reading our book of the month, Magic Ramen, to learn about our imaginative and inventive leader, Momofuku Ando. Students will engage in discussions and activities throughout the month to learn more about our spotlight leader and our core value: Creativity. As students participate in our lessons they are also creating special Core Values Books that they will be able to take home at the end of the year!  We encourage all families to participate with our Core Values Program!
