Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Comes to Santa Clara County
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with music legend, philanthropist and cultural icon Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to bring her life-changing program to Santa Clara County. This worldwide effort mails free age-appropriate books (in English or Spanish) to children under the age of 5 every month, with a goal of sparking a lifetime love of reading. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is now available to ALL children ages 0-5 living in Santa Clara County. Families can sign up their children at sccld.org/imaginationlibrary/. Books should begin arriving this December for those who register before Nov 1. Residents do not need to have a public library card, though they are strongly recommended regardless of age, to get a library card with their local library. It's never too early to introduce your little ones to books. Visit the library to enjoy storytimes and check out books for yourself and your children. Alongside SCCLD, the organizations bringing this program to fruition through critical funding are the Gilroy Foundation, Susie Seledon Literacy Fund, and the Santa Clara County Library District Foundation is our 501c3 partner to accept donations. In California, the Imagination Library is supported by a state match of 50%, administered through the California State Library. The key partner organizations include the Rotary Club District 5170, Los Gatos Library, City of Mountain View Public Library, Palo Alto City Library, San Jose Public Library, Santa Clara City Library, and the Sunnyvale Public Library.
