Dear Weller Parents and Community,
As principal of Joseph Weller Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome you all to the 2016-2017
school year! I hope your summer was filled with lots of fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories! It
continues to be a privilege and an honor to serve as principal of an exemplary and student centered
As we prepare to embark on another year, I am reminded of this quote, “There are two gifts we should give our children; one is ROOTS and the other is WINGS”, which ties into our school vision, “Weller
Mustangs are motivated, innovative, and collaborative students who are determined to persevere and become self directed and successful citizens.” In partnership with you, I have confidence that our concerted efforts will enable us to strengthen and build on our student’s individual roots that will anchor them as they practice spreading their wings at the elementary level.
We welcome the opportunity to work with you to ensure your student’s success and look forward to continuing and deepening this partnership. We urge parents to get involved in our school by
taking advantage of opportunities available to you such as PTA, School Site Council (SSC), English
Language Advisory Council (ELAC), Family Engagement, and other volunteer activities.
We also encourage parents to visit our school website at http://weller.musd.org/ and more importantly,
check your student’s classroom website for updated learning activities and events.
I am looking forward to our continued partnership as we work collaboratively to achieve and maintain high academic standards, meet the needs of our learners, while creating a community of confident life-long learners. Together we will make this a successful and rewarding school year! Our wonderful team of teachers and I look forward to seeing you at our Back to School Night on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 5:00 pm. And especially look forward to seeing your child on the first day of student attendance; Tuesday, August 11, 2016 at 8:00 am.
In partnership with you,
Weller Elementary School Principal
